Britany Curiel of Edinburg signs with University of the Southwest's volleyball team

HOBBS, NM (06/07/2011)(readMedia)-- Britany Curiel, from Edinburg Texas, signed on to the University of the Southwest Volleyball team. Curiel is a 5'6" Setter and was a member of the ESP Fierce Volleyball Club. During her junior and senior years with the Jaguars at Economedes High School, Curiel recorded over 300 assists in 46 matches.

Curiel found success on and off the court prior to signing with the Lady Mustangs. The Jaguar alum received an honors medal, a distinguished medal, A and B honor roll, Offensive player of the year honors and honorable mention. In her Junior year she was named MVP of the Jaguar volleyball team. Curiel has been a member of basketball, softball, Business Professionals of America and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

"Britany is an all around great student athlete," said Head Coach Sonya Petroski about Curiel. "She is very driven on and off the court, and I am looking forward to her coming in for the 2011 season. I am very confident in her ability to come in and lead our offense."
