SPARTANBURG, SC (05/19/2010)(readMedia)-- Wofford College senior Brittney Rose Getz received The James E. Seegars Award, the departmental award for psychology, during Honors Convocation on May 11.

Getz is a psychology and Spanish major. Accepted to Wofford with an Anna Todd Wofford Scholarship, she has been named to the Dean's List each semester and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa on April 22.  She has been a Success Initiative Scholar, member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority and the Sigma Delta Pi honor society, and president of the Psychology Kingdom. She was a research fellow with Wofford's Community of Scholars; conducted NSF-sponsored research in applied psychology at Clemson University; and conducted independent research while studying abroad in Spain. Upon graduating in May, Getz will enter the doctoral program in clinical psychology at the University of Louisville to begin her career as a clinical geropsychologist. The academic major awards are made by the faculty to seniors recommended by the major departments on the basis of academic achievement, character and intellectual promise. Some of the awards are named in honor of persons who have made significant contributions to the intellectual life of the college.
