EVANSVILLE, IN (05/06/2013)(readMedia)-- Brock Reneer of Princeton, Indiana, has received the University of Evansville's prestigious Guthrie May Outstanding Senior Service Award for the most outstanding senior man.
The award, presented each year at UE's Spring Commencement, recognizes high academic performance, a commitment to service, outstanding leadership, and diverse involvement in campus activities. The winner is chosen by a committee of UE students and faculty.
Reneer, a Princeton Community High School alumnus, graduated from UE today with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with majors in finance and economics.
At UE, Reneer was involved with organizations such as Orientation Leaders, Freshman Council, Admission Ambassadors, and Business Scholar Days. He also participated in UE's cheerleading team and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, serving terms as president and vice president. He has studied abroad at UE's Harlaxton College and in Hong Kong and Singapore, and in April, he was elected by his peers to serve on the University's Board of Trustees.
"Brock has learned early in life that true leadership doesn't come from money or power, but from selflessness and humility," said UE President Thomas A. Kazee while announcing the award at today's Commencement. "Those qualities were evident in Brock throughout his four years at UE, and we'll always be thankful for the impact he made on campus as a servant leader."
The University of Evansville is a private, liberal arts-based university with a full-time undergraduate enrollment of approximately 2,400. UE's diverse student body represents 42 states and 46 countries. U.S. News & World Report recognizes UE as a top 10 master's-granting university in the Midwest, and third in the region for "Great Schools, Great Prices."
