Bronx Resident Elizabeth Cooney Performed as Featured Soloist with Ithaca College Women's Chorale

ITHACA, NY (02/13/2013)(readMedia)-- Bronx resident Elizabeth Cooney, daughter of Maureen and Michael Cooney, was a featured soloist with the Ithaca College Women's Chorale led by Janet Galván on Feb. 10. Cooney is a junior vocal performance and music education major in the Ithaca College School of Music.

The Ithaca College Women's Chorale is one of five choral ensembles in the School of Music. Open to music and non-music undergrad and graduate students, the group includes 48 singers this year. The Women's Chorale has distinguished itself for its innovative programming and performs a variety of repertoire.

Janet Galván is one of the nation's leading conducting teachers and has conducted national, regional and all-state choruses in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Washington's Constitution Hall, and Pittsburgh's Heinz Hall. She also conducts the Ithaca College Chorus and is artistic director for the Ithaca Children's Choir.
