Bryan Honored for Outstanding Contributions to Education

ALBANY, NY (04/08/2008)(readMedia)-- Lynette Bryan, manager of student enrichment services for Broome-Tioga BOCES in Binghamton, has been selected as the recipient for the 2008 Leadership and Support Award by the School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS).

The SAANYS Leadership and Support Award was established to recognize the outstanding leadership efforts of those members whose responsibilities require leadership through support services to fellow administrators across and between districts.

Broome-Tioga BOCES serves 15 school districts in Broome and Tioga counties, annually touching the lives of nearly 40,000 students in grades k-12 and many others in adult programs. In her position with BOCES, Bryan is responsible for leading and managing several programs that are implemented for the benefit of surrounding districts including the regional summer school initiative, enrichment programs, Odyssey of the Mind, and arts and education. She has nurtured a collaboration between regional districts and through her commitment and encouragement these programs have grown and prospered. Bryan serves as the vice chairperson on the SAANYS Advisory Committee for the New York State Summer School Administrators’ Group.

According to Dawn Shannon, Broome-Tioga BOCES assistant superintendent, “Lynette is constantly researching ways that we can develop new services that assist districts in providing quality, cost effective programs for students. Lynette never hesitates to take on a new challenge! Her ‘we can do it’ attitude, her collaborative spirit, and her desire for excellence leads to her success.”

Bryan will be recognized for her achievements at the SAANYS annual awards ceremony on May 9, 2008 at the Gideon Putnam Hotel in Saratoga Springs, New York.

SAANYS represents more than 6,900 school administrators, supervisors, and coordinators. As a professional association, SAANYS is committed to provide direction, service, and support to the membership in their efforts to improve the quality of education and leadership in New York State schools. SAANYS is affiliated with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP), and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
