Villanova student David Ederer (Buffalo, N.Y.) is one of three graduating seniors at the university who have been awarded Fulbright English Teaching Assistantships for the 2010-11 academic year. Ederer will use the Fulbright to teach in South Korea.

Ederer wants to set up an after-school soccer program in the community where he will be teaching as a way to bridge cultures. He plans to pursue a Master's in International Public Health after his Fulbright year.

"It has been such an honor to work with this outstanding group of Villanova students on their applications for the Fulbright," said Jane Morris, Director of Villanova's Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships. "Each of them will be serving international communities as ambassadors of the United States and Villanova. I can't imagine having better representatives than our 2010 Villanova Fulbright Scholars."

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is the largest U.S. exchange program offering opportunities for students to undertake international graduate study, advanced research and teaching. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State to promote international good will through the exchange of students in the fields of education, culture and science. Fulbright Teachers teach English in schools and universities in their host countries while becoming fully integrated into the fabric of the local community. More than 1,500 students travel abroad each year on Fulbright awards.
