Villanova Alumni Couple to be Honored as Legacy Award Winners on National Philanthropy Day

VILLANOVA, PA (11/08/2012)(readMedia)-- Villanova University alumni Thomas D. Treacy '69 '71 and Diane Treacy '82 will be honored by the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals as recipients of the organization's Legacy Award at its Nov. 14 National Philanthropy Day event held at The Philadelphia Loews Hotel. National Philanthropy Day honors exceptional volunteers and donors for their work in the community.

The Treacys were nominated for the Legacy Award by Villanova in response to their generous donation of a planned gift that will focus on community service and enhance academics and athletics for years to come. Their gift will support programs that reflect their affinity for service and passion for Villanova, such as the football program, the College of Nursing's Center for the Study of Global Health, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences' freshman community service initiative, and the Office of Campus Ministry's service outreach.

Thomas recently retired as the President and owner of the Antonelli Institute of Art and Photography and is currently a member of the Villanova University College of Nursing's Board of Consulters. As a student at Villanova, he was invited to meet with President Richard Nixon in the Oval Office at the White House in recognition of his civic activities. Diane is a retired development professional who worked for various nonprofit agencies and state government in Wilmington, Delaware.

National Philanthropy Day acknowledges the entire spectrum of services provided by the nonprofit community and recognizes the profound impact that philanthropy has on the fabric of society. Over 600 local leaders will take part in celebrating National Philanthropy Day in Philadelphia to honor the efforts of the individuals and groups who, through their dedication to service, have enhanced philanthropy and communities through our region.
