Bundt Pan Recipes Win State Fair Awards

DES MOINES, IA (08/13/2019) (readMedia)-- The unique ring shaped pan known as a Bundt Pan was the instrument of choice for bakers in the three Nordic Ware baking competitions judged Sunday, August 11, at the 2019 Iowa State Fair.

DeeDee Kennedy of Des Moines won first place in the Nordic Ware Bundt Cakes Creative Bundt Cake competition. Olivia Caron Smith of Winterset claimed second place and Mary Tibbetts of Urbandale earned third place.

In the Nordic Ware Bundt Bread competition, Pamela Lang of Johnston won first place. DeeDee Kennedy of Des Moines earned second place and Natalie Larson of Des Moines claimed third place.

Natalie Larson of Des Moines won first place in the Nordic Ware Bundt Pan Main Dish competition. Mary Tibbetts of Urbandale took second place and Rachel Petersen of Knoxville claimed third place.

Entries were judged on appearance, creativity, doneness/moistness, flavor and texture.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 166 divisions, 715 classes and over 7,300 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
