CBS 6 Anchor to Address Hudson Children's Book Festival

CBS 6 Anchor,Dori Marlin, will they keynote speaker at the Hudson Children's Book Festival May 5th. She is scheduled to introduce the children's author, Walter Dean Myers, in the Hudson High School auditorium at 10am.. Dori Martin anchors the 6pm,6:30pm and 11pm.

She joined CBS6 in 2008, after nearly four years as Weekday Morning Anchor/Reporter at WTEN in Albany.During her time at WTEN, Dori covered all the big local stories: the massive floods of 2006, the Valentine's Day storm of 2007, and the Eliot Spitzer scandal that rocked the Capitol in 2008, just to name a few. She moved to Albany from Dothan, Alabama in 2005, where she worked at WDHN as Main Evening Anchor and Producer. Her reporting work there also won an Associated Press award. Born and raised outside Fort Lauderdale, her family now lives in Tampa. She graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville, majoring in Telecommunications-News, with an outside concentration in Political Science. Her career in both radio and television news began while at UF. The National Children's Book Council lists Hudson's Children's Book Festival as "one of the 10 National Events". Walter Dean Myers, the new National Ambassador for Young People's Literature, will kick off the festival with a 10 A.M. Myers' keynote address will promote "READING IS NOT OPTIONAL!"

Walter Dean Myers will also be available to sign his books. The "heavy hitters" of children's literature will also be participating. They include: Seymour Simon, Donald Crews, Terry Trueman, Jacqueline Woodson, Mark Teague, and Nick Bruel.

Those attending the Hudson children's Book Festival can meet and greet the authors and illustrators, attend "read aloud" sessions or presentations by their favorite authors. Hudson's Exhibit Hall will house 2,500 free books and participants can purchase a signed book by the authors.

Free transportation will be provided from designated locations.

Organizers are planning a "free" Kindle giveaways each hour. Other prizes will be awarded and favorite storybook characters, and Whoopsie Daisy the Clown will be

touring the exhibit hall.

The Hudson Children's Book Festival (HCBF) is taking place this year on May 5th, 2012 from 10 A.M. – 4 P.M. on the campus of the Hudson City School District's Junior/Senior High School.
