GOSHEN, NY (06/02/2010)(readMedia)-- CSEA members will hold an informational picket June 3 at 2 p.m. in front the County Office Building, 255 Main St., Goshen.
The union members, many of whom work at the Valley View Nursing Home will voice their opposition to the proposed feasibility study to examine options for ownership and operation of the nursing home. They say that despite claims by lawmakers who support the study that there will be no predetermined outcome, they believe it may be the first step in a plan to sell the nursing home to a private operator. Like those lawmakers who voted against the study, CSEA is concerned that selling our nursing home is a bad deal for the county.
"CSEA believes there are better ways for the county to save money that don't involve selling out our nursing home to the highest bidder," said CSEA Southern Region President Billy Riccaldo. "We hope the full legislature agrees and that this bad deal won't go any further."
Following the informational picket, the union members will speak out against the study and possible sale of the facility at the County Legislative Meeting beginning at 3:30 p.m.
