ERIE, PA (09/02/2010)(readMedia)-- Mercyhurst College senior Caitlin Ross, a double major in criminal justice-pre law and marriage and family studies from Canaan, Maine, was recently honored with two awards at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Northeastern Association of Criminal Justice Sciences held in Bristol, Rhode Island.
She was presented the Gerhard O. W. Mueller and Freda Adler Undergraduate Student Scholarship for outstanding academic achievement. She also received second place honors in the undergraduate student paper competition for her paper, "A Gault-given right: Access to counsel and the effectiveness of representation in the juvenile justice system." Besides presenting her paper, Ross also participated in a roundtable discussion on "Juvenile Justice Policy: Issues and Trends."
Ross is a research assistant with the Mercyhurst Civic Institute, working on the Erie County study of juvenile offenders transferred to the adult criminal justice system.
