CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (08/18/2015)(readMedia)-- Auditions for Campbellsville University's Theater Department's production of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" will be on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 24 and 25 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the Russ Mobley Theater in the Alumni Building at 114 University Drive, Campbellsville.

Those wishing to audition are asked to come prepared with a 1-minute comedic monologue and a light-hearted song. An accompanist will be provided.

"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" is about an eclectic group of students who gather to vie for the title of Spelling Bee Champion while learning that winning (and losing) isn't everything.

Staci Skiles Schaum, assistant to the director to the theater at Campbellsville University Starr Garrett, said, "Through a delightful score by William Finn and a sweet, comedic book by Rachel Sheinkin, each character candidly discloses amusing and touching stories from their home life."

The play was conceived by Rebecca Feldman with additional material by Jay Reiss.

Schaum said callbacks will be on Wednesday, Aug. 26, also in the theater. All are encouraged to audition.

Performance dates are Thursday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 11 at 2:30 p.m.

Nathan Allen, assistant theater instructor, will direct the play.
