Canal Clean-Up Events in Saratoga County

WHO: Brian Stratton, director of the New York State Canal Corporation, is scheduled to visit two clean-up activities as part of Canal Clean Sweep. This seventh annual event, scheduled around Earth Day, involves nearly 100 organizations statewide. The project partners are the non-profit Parks & Trails New York, the New York State Canal Corporation and the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation. The Canal system is scheduled to reopen for navigation on May 1, 2012.

EVENT 1:

WHEN: 9 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012

WHERE: Vischer Ferry Preserve, Van Vranken Road and Riverview Road, Clifton Park.

WHAT: The Town of Clifton Park will provide trash bags and debris disposal for the removal of brush and trash from the historic Eric Canal Towpath.

EVENT 2:

WHEN: 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012

WHERE: Terminal Road, Town of Halfmoon.

WHAT: Volunteers are invited to join scouts, Town Council members, the Trails Advisory Committee, and local residents in a clean up of Crescent Park.
