Canalway Trail to Reopen at Lock E-34/35 (Lockport)

The New York State Canal Corporation will hold a press conference on Monday, November 15, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Lock E-34/35 in the City of Lockport, Niagara County, (directions below) to reopen the Canalway Trail that had been closed due to a rock slide in June 2008.

Canal Corporation Director Carmella R. Mantello will join with Lockport Mayor Michael Tucker and State and local officials and canal enthusiasts to mark the reopening of the Trail and surrounds.

Members of the media, including photographers, are invited to attend.

DIRECTIONS TO LOCK E-34/35 (Lockport):

From the NYS Thruway Exit 49 (Depew, Lockport, Route 78) toward Depew/Lockport, turn LEFT onto Route 78 (Transit Road). Turn RIGHT onto West Main Street. Turn LEFT at Church Street (City Hall). Turn RIGHT onto Richmond Avenue/Canal Street. Parking is on the left. Lock 34 is about 300 feet down the hill.
