BURLINGAME, CA (03/04/2008)(readMedia)-- The main reason why a public debate is necessary in the 12th Congressional District, and in the political arena in general, is to inform the voters about what each candidate's points of view about the issues are. Even though, princess Jackie has been crowned congresswoman by the mass media, candidate Moloney, and the people who follow politics, believe that a debate is in order.
This election is to be about big things, not little things. One of them been the war in Iraq, this is a major issue whether we like it or not. Next issue, the 9 trillion dollars national debt, Illegal immigration, Health-care.What about the definition of marriage? Who does it apply to? What about abortion, and gun control. What about the rule of law, and the integrity of The Constitution of the United States? Are these issues to be ignored? Once and for all let's have a debate as in the old days, before Radio and Television, the same way Lincoln and Douglas used to do. What are we as candidates going to do about all of these issues. At the very least, we the people deserve to know where each candidate stands.
Moloney, does not think that is fair for the voters of the district, to simply pass it on to Aunt Jackie, based on the sad tragedies of yesteryear. As loving and caring human beings, we cannot help feel empathy towards Jackie. On the other hand, personal tragedies alone do not qualify Aunt Jackie or any other candidate to be our next congressional representative.
To simply pass the 12th congressional seat to Jackie Speier, because of gerrymandering is ludicrous. Furthermore; not having a public debate is a lack of respect to the voters, not to mention an insult to the rest of the candidates. We welcome your opinions.
