LATHAM, NY (08/10/2015)(readMedia)-- New York Army National Guard Capt. Jamie Loy, a Utica resident and Iraq War veteran, took command of the Headquarters Company of the 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade during a Saturday, August 8, ceremony at brigade headquarters in Latham.
Loy, is a full-time National Guard officer, who concurrently works as the brigade's personnel officer.
He replaced Capt. Gary Jamieson as the commander of the company.
Loy's previous assignments include serving as an infantry platoon leader and scout platoon leader in 2nd Battalion 108th Infantry, as well as serving as the battalion personnel officer for the 642nd Aviation Support Battalion.
He enlisted in the New York Army National Guard and earned his commission through Officer Candidate School.
His awards and decorations include the Combat Action Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Army Commendation Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He is married to Lindsey Nesci-Loy.
