STEWART AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, NEWBURGH, NY (03/02/2012)(readMedia)-- Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, was the featured speaker at Stewart Air National Guard Base's 7th Annual Prayer Breakfast on Friday, March 2.
After a welcome from Brig. Gen. Verle Johnston, the commander of the 105th Airlift Wing and Lt. Col. Joseph LaMorte, the 105th's senior chaplain, Dolan breakfasted with Air National Guard, Marine Corps Reserve and civilian support personnel as well as their family members.
The Cardinal's message came from the inspirational story behind his bishop's motto: "Lord, to whom shall we go?"
In times of trouble and trial; we turn to our faith, or whatever we believe deeply, for reassurance, comfort, and direction, Dolan said. His message emphasized reaffirming the importance of emotional and spiritual well being and faith in our lives.
The non-denominational prayer breakfast is open to all members of the Stewart Air National Guard Base community.
Each year since 1952, the President of the United States has hosted the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC. For many years, our armed forces have enjoyed the privilege of joining in similar observances at military installations around the world.
The Archbishop was appointed to the College of Cardinals via the consistory of Feb. 16, 2012
