Carolyn Scott Named Iowan of the Day

DES MOINES, IA (07/25/2017) (readMedia)-- The Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation and Cookies Food Products are pleased to present Carolyn Scott of Bloomfield as an Iowan of the Day for the 2017 Iowa State Fair.

Carolyn has touched the lives of many in her community. She is actively involved with her local 4-H clubs, teaching the art of sewing with young women and sharing her knowledge about sheep with exhibitors at the Davis County Fair. Carolyn uses her time and talents to care for the environment in an effort to better her town. Her talented green thumb has been appreciated by many in Bloomfield, as Carolyn has been a Master Gardner for four years. She volunteers her time beautifying her neighborhood which has been recognized by many.

Supporting the advancement of women is a passion Carolyn shares with her town. She is actively involved with the P.E.O, a philanthropic organization for the advancement of women, currently serving as the treasurer for Chapter B. She assists in promoting education for women through scholarships, grants and awards at Cottey College in Missouri.

Carolyn's drive to better her community doesn't end there. She is actively involved with her church, delivering Meals on Wheels every week. "She is always looking for ways she can be in service to others and always giving a "can do" attitude and displaying a servant heart," says nominator Kim Bigsby.

Carolyn's day of recognition will be on Thursday, August 10 at the 2017 Iowa State Fair. She will be recognized with a presentation on the Anne & Bill Riley stage at 2:30 P.M. Along with accommodations at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown, she will receive a gift bag, grandstand tickets and use of the Iowan of the Day golf cart.

Founded in 1997, the Iowan of the Day program allows the Blue Ribbon Foundation to recognize Iowa's most outstanding individuals. The program continues to honor Iowans across the state who have made a difference in others' lives, while upholding the characteristics associated with Iowa-dependability, integrity, hard work and sense of community.
