ATLANTA, GA (05/13/2010)(readMedia)-- Carolyn Simpkins of Charlotte received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, she also graduated Magna Cum Laude, during May commencement exercises at Agnes Scott College.
Simpkins is the daughter of Jenny Simpkins and Jimmy Simpkins.
Simpkins was one of approximately 200 members of the class of 2010 in the audience as The Honorable Madeleine K. Albright delivered the commencement address and Gay Johnson McDougall, class of 1969 and the first African-American student to enroll at Agnes Scott, presented the charge to the graduating class. Albright and McDougall received honorary doctorates from the college. Undergraduate honors included six summa cum laude graduates, 26 magna cum laude and 26 cum laude.
