Carson McMurray Joins State of the Rockies Researchers at Colorado College

McMurray to Spend Summer Studying Colorado River Basin

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (07/11/2011)(readMedia)-- Carson McMurray, the son of Thomas McMurray of Jackson, Wyo., and Kimberly Jenkins of Chapel Hill, N.C., is spending the summer as a student researcher for Colorado College's State of the Rockies Project. McMurray, a senior, is among six Colorado College students who are spending two weeks traveling along the Colorado River gathering data for the 2012 Colorado College State of the Rockies Project. McMurray is an Environmental Science major and is researching hydrology and climate change along the Colorado River Basin.

The State of the Rockies Project is in its ninth year, and seeks to increase public understanding of vital issues affecting the Rockies. This year the focus is on the Colorado River Basin, one of the world's major fresh-water sources, which encompasses portions of seven states in the American Southwest and continues into Mexico. The students' research will be compiled into a report, "The Colorado River: Agenda for Use, Restoration and Sustainability as if the Next Generation Counts," which will be released in April 2012.
