ST. BONAVENTURE, NY (04/23/2012)(readMedia)-- Cassandra Stubbs of Erie, Pa., was one of eight St. Bonaventure University students who were recognized by the American Advertising Federation by becoming lifelong members of Alpha Delta Sigma, a national honor society sponsored by the organization.
Stubbs is enrolled in the five-year journalism and mass communication/integrated marketing communications program at the university. She is anticipated to complete the program in May 2013.
Alpha Delta Sigma is the world's first advertising fraternity. It was organized in 1913 by a group of nine students at the University of Missouri. The same presets set down at the original meeting remain intact today:
1. To combine in one fraternal body students and practitioners in the advertising business.
2. To accord advertising education greater recognition by the universities and advertising professionals.
3. To bring greater prestige to advertising and its practitioners.
To be eligible for nomination into the honor society, students need to be of senior academic status and possess a minimum overall GPA of 3.25 on a 4.00 scale.
Alpha Delta Sigma is the only national, professional advertising honorary society in American higher education. Each year, hundreds of students from AAF college chapters are nominated and inducted into the society.
AAF is the oldest national advertising trade association and has 226 college chapters. Its mission is to protect and promote the wellbeing of advertising by providing students with real-world case studies and recruitment connections to corporate America.
