PLATTSBURGH, NY (06/20/2008)(readMedia)-- Cathy Moulton, director of housing at SUNY Plattsburgh and faculty advisor to Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority, received the Faculty Advisor of the Year Award at the 8th Annual Fraternal Awards Ceremony at the college.
The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life acknowledged her caring and committed involvement with the sorority over the last 19 years, the longest period of time of any fraternity or sorority advisor on campus.
In that time, there have been many moments where Moulton has gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Alpha Epsilon Phi President Anna Zinko described one such moment. "Earlier in the semester, one of our sisters underwent a personal crisis," she said. "It was a time when we were especially in need of guidance. And Cathy offered ideas and advice on how to handle the situation. She gave me her home phone number, and encouraged me to call her anytime."
This experience, like many others, has distinguished Moulton's guiding presence in the sorority. In doing so, she has enriched the SUNY Plattsburgh Greek and greater community, Zinko asserts.
"We feel that Cathy represents our organization's core values of trust, understanding and love and deserves this award because she has remained so dedicated and reliable throughout those 19 years," Zinko said. "I can't think of a better time to offer this amazing woman recognition for it."
As proud of Moulton as the members of the sorority are, Moulton is equally proud of them.
"They've become a five star chapter," she said, mentioning the fact that they have above average grades and that they been doing a lot of volunteer work in the community.
"They're very involved and doing lots of good things for the campus and the community," said Moulton. "They're a bunch of good women."
