OSWEGO, NY (04/17/2012)(readMedia)-- Rob Kronen of Cato, an honors program graduate in music from SUNY Oswego, has received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence, the highest student recognition through the State University system.

Five SUNY Oswego students were among the 257 honorees at 64 SUNY institutions across New York state recognized for high grade-point average and extraordinary contributions to the campus and community. Kronen, originally from Marcellus, led the college's Guitar Ensemble from 2008-11, served as music director for performances with country recording artist Cooper Boone, composed original works for the college's large ensembles, and founded and played guitar for the Soul Patrol student ensemble. Kronen has performed solo at the Everson Museum of Art and Syracuse Stage.

He also organized and performed music for charitable events, and sold an original composition that has been performed at jazz festivals in the Northeast and Canada.

Other Oswego recipients were Earl Bellinger of Schenectady, Amy LaLonde of Dryden, Eric Wojtanik of Eden and Adam Wolfe of Troy.
