Certificate Programs at Genesee Community College Offer Career Preparation in Just One Year!
Entrepreneurship and Fashion Design are New Certificate Options
BATAVIA, NY (08/02/2018) A lot can happen in 12 months-especially at Genesee Community College. Knowing that one year can create a whole new career trajectory for new employees or incumbent workers, GCC has introduced several new certificates for the fall 2018 semester. Specifically, one year certificates are now available in Enterpreneurship and Fashion Design.
In addition to dozens of associate degree programs, there are now 17 certificate programs that can be completed in just one year. Certificate programs, generally requiring 30 academic credit hours, are designed to provide specific knowledge and skills required to perform a specific function. While certificate programs can catapult learners into two and four-year degree programs, they also fast-track the transition from beginner to qualified worker. Certificates can also be used to advance a current career path for incumbent workers who find themselves stalled in their occupation.
Certificate programs are also perfect for those who are balancing responsibilities of children, jobs and family care making attending a class on a college campus a real challenge. Eight of GCC's certificate programs can be 50% -75% completed online, and certificates in Criminal Justice, General Education and Teaching Assistant can be completed 100% online providing maximum convenience and accessibility.
Turning a hobby or a personal passion into a full-time business will be easier after earning the one year Entrepreneurship Certificate which can be 75% completed online! Business and Management Principles Marketing, Business Communication and Law, Professional Sales or Advertising and computer skills are all covered in the program. Anyone interested in fashion, design, merchandising, apparel, textiles, draping or fashion illustration should enroll in the one year Fashion Business: Fashion Design certificate program.
GCC also offers certificate programs in: Accounting, Child Care, Computer Repair, Computerized Drafting and Design, Developmental Disabilities Studies, Gerontology, Health Studies, Help Desk Support, Hospitality Management, Medical Office Assistant, Musical Theatre and Web Design. Additional details on each of Genesee Community College's programs, including the online opportunities are available at https://www.genesee.edu/academics/programs/default.cfm?sort=degree#CERT.
