Champlain College Announces Union Election Results

BURLINGTON, VT (11/24/2014)(readMedia)-- Champlain College today announced that its campus-based adjunct faculty have elected to be exclusively represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

The final result, as determined by the National Labor Relations Board regional office in Boston, reflected a majority in favor of unionization. Of 219 eligible voters, 176 voted, of which 118 voted in favor of the union. As a result, all campus-based adjuncts will be exclusively represented by the SEIU on all matters affecting their wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

"Champlain will do its part to work productively with the SEIU in the best interest of our students and all our faculty," said Champlain College President Donald J. Laackman.

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) filed a petition for an election with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), seeking to become the exclusive bargaining representative for campus-based adjunct faculty at Champlain College.
