BURLINGTON, VT (08/18/2010)(readMedia)-- Champlain College's Division of Communication and Creative Media and Digital Filmmaking program played host to the University Film and Video Association's (UFVA) annual conference Aug. 10-14 in Burlington Vermont.

More than 425 UFVA members from across the country attended the five-day conference organized by Karen Klove, 2010 UFVA Conference Host Chair and Champlain College associate professor and director of Digital Filmmaking at Champlain.

The UFVA is an international organization where media production and writing meets the history, theory and criticism of the media. UFVA members are image-makers and artists, professors and students, archivists and distributors, college departments, libraries and manufacturers.

The UFVA conference provides opportunities to meet and share ideas with colleagues, receive evaluation of creative work, and monitor the developments in film/video technology, education, scholarship and artistic pursuits. For more information about UFVA visit www.UFVA.org.

Klove said part of the reason Champlain is hosting the conference to mark the success of Champlain College's new Digital Filmmaking program. It began in 2008 and is already one of the most popular programs on campus. Klove said, "It's philosophy of 'a thinker's mind, a maker's hand and an artist's eye' has attracted students from all regions of the United States."
