HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (05/10/2013)(readMedia)-- At Final Convocation on April 25, Hampden-Sydney College senior Walker Chase Shipp Grogg received the Kearfott Stone Memorial Award, presented by Dr. R. David Salvage, Assistant Professor of Fine Arts. The Kearfott Stone Memorial Award, established in 1939 by the parents of Kearfott Stone '35, is presented to a student who has rendered outstanding service to the cause of good music in the community.
Chase serves as President of SHARC (Sigma Nu Humane Animal Rescue Club), as President of the Acousticals (a capella group), and as Chair of the Freshman Orientation Committee. He is a member of the Hampden-Sydney Men's Chorus, the Student Investment Group, and the Fly Fishing Club. Chase was the recipient in April 2011 of the Minter Award for music and was recognized for leadership in the 2012 edition of Who's Who Among Students in Universities and Colleges. An economics major, Chase graduated from Kent School in Kent, CT, and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. William R. Grogg III of Williamsburg.
