Cheryl Kuebler Dickson of Manchester To Be Honored With UNH Alumni Achievement Award

DURHAM, NH (10/08/2012)(readMedia)-- Cheryl Kuebler Dickson of Manchester will be honored Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, during the University of New Hampshire Alumni Association's annual Alumni Achievement Awards Ceremony recognizing eight outstanding alumni who have made notable contributions to the UNH community, the state or the nation.

A member of the Class of 1963, Dickson is a recipient of the Alumni Meritorious Service Award. Her story starts 50 ago as a Wildcat cheerleader, when she met and married UNH football and lacrosse player Robert "Bo" Dickson '62. During their years together, the two were loyal fans and supporters of the UNH athletic programs. Even after her husband's death in 1997, Dickson remained committed to UNH. She has served as a member of the President's Council and as president of the Wildcat Athletics Council. For 20 years, under her leadership, athletics held the annual Bill Knight/Bo Dickson Memorial Golf Tournament fundraiser for athletic scholarships. She has also established two scholarship funds of her own, and recently, she agreed to serve as co-chair for the 50th Reunion of the Class of 1963. For cheerleader Cheryl Dickson it's just another way of saying, "Go, Wildcats!"

Along with Dickson, the 2012 recipients of the Alumni Meritorious Service Award include Frederick "Fritz" Armstrong III of South Wellfleet, Mass.; Frank E. "Ted" Wheatley '76 of Winchester, Mass.; and Deborah Narinkevicuis Overdeput '82 of Salem. The Profile of Service Award recipients are Valerie "Val" Wilcox England '54 of Durham, and Dorothy "Dot" Taylor Sheehan '71 of Hampton. The Award of Excellence for Outstanding Achievement goes to Margaret-Alice "M.A." Haggart Lucas '64 of Bethesda, Md. The Young Alumna Achievement Award goes to Katharina "Katy" Fader Lilly '00 of Durham.

The awards will be presented by Alumni Association student scholarship recipients. "Bringing student and alumni leaders together is a special way to commemorate this occasion," says Steve Donovan, associate vice president of advancement and executive director of the UNH Alumni Association.
