Chestnut Hill College Awards the St. Catherine Medal to Esther McCrea

Philadelphia Student Recognized For Service to Community and Leadership

PHILADELPHIA, PA (06/20/2011)(readMedia)-- Carol Jean Vale, SSJ, Ph.D, president of Chestnut Hill College, awarded junior Esther McCrea, an English literature major from Philadelphia, Pa. with the St. Catherine Medal at Honors Convocation held on campus in May.

The St. Catherine Medal of the Kappa Gamma Pi Honor Society is awarded to a sophomore or junior student who "represents the high ideals of a Catholic college education." The recipient is selected on their contribution of leadership and service to the College.

In addition to her studies, Ms. McCrea is a shining example of unwavering commitment to service, volunteering her time at the St. Francis Inn, Shriner's Hospital, Heart of Camden, and Scholars in Service. On campus, she is an active part of campus ministry, an Eucharistic minister, and takes part in service trips and retreats.
