HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (05/09/2012)(readMedia)-- At Final Convocation on April 26, Hampden-Sydney College senior Christian W. Yow received the Cohen Citizenship Award, presented by Mr. S. Barron Frazier '12, President of the Lamda Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa. This Award is presented annually by the Lambda Circle of ODK to a member of the senior class who has demonstrated citizenship and leadership which exemplifies the ideals of ODK. The award is named for Lee Cohen, a much admired and loved member of the Hampden-Sydney mathematics department, who for over a decade served as Faculty Secretary of the Lambda Circle. Professor Cohen was an honored teacher, a dedicated participant in activities at Hampden-Sydney College and the larger community, and an exemplar of the ODK ideals of citizenship and leadership.
Christian played strong safety on the varsity football team and is a member of the Student Investment Group, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Tiger Athletic Club. An economics major, Christian graduated from South County Secondary School and is the son of Scott & Suzan Yow of Springfield.
