Christopher Hendrix Awarded Oglethorpe University's Sally Hull Weltner Award

ATLANTA, GA (05/26/2011)(readMedia)-- Christopher Derek Hendrix, of Kannapolis, North Carolina, was awarded the Sally Hull Weltner Award at the 2011 Oglethorpe University commencement ceremony. 

The Sally Hull Weltner Award is given annually in loving memory of Sally Hull Weltner, wife of Dr. Philip Weltner, president of Oglethorpe University from 1944-1953. The award honors the student in the graduating class who has attained the highest level of scholastic achievement with the greatest number of hours in course work completed at Oglethorpe.

Oglethorpe University was founded in 1835 and enrolls 1,100 students representing 34 states and 28 countries. Oglethorpe is a member of the Annapolis Group, an organization of America's most selective liberal arts institutions. For four consecutive years, Oglethorpe has been named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for commitment to and achievement in community service.
