Christopher Velazquez honored for academic excellence at The University of Scranton.

SCRANTON, PA (06/20/2011)(readMedia)-- Christopher D. Velazquez, Pomona, was among the 68 students honored by The University of Scranton during its undergraduate Class Night ceremony. The Jesuit university awarded outstanding members of the Class of 2011 for academic achievement and service.

Velazquez was the recipient of the Excellence in Criminal Justice Award. He earned a bachelor of science, magna cum laude, in criminal justice.

Velazquez was a Dean's List student and a member of Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society, Epsilon Zeta Chapter. He was involved with the Criminal Justice Club and was a four-year member of the varsity baseball team.

After graduation, Velazquez will undertake a paid internship with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey while pursuing graduate studies through the American Military University.

He graduated from Albertus Magnus High School, Bardonia.
