AURORA, IL (12/18/2012)(readMedia)-- Aurora University sophomore midfielder Nicole Wolfe (Chula Vista, Calif./Hilltop HS) gained some lofty national recognition when D3soccer.com released the 2012 Division III Women's Soccer All-America Team.

Wolfe, a key contributor to the Spartan women's soccer team, winners of the NAC Women's Soccer Championship for the seventh consecutive season, was a Third-Team All-American selection.

"This is fantastic for the Spartan women's soccer program, and a well-deserved honor for Nicole to be recognized as one of the top players in the country," Head Coach Troy Edwards said. "As a gifted attacker and natural goal scorer, we came into the season with the intention of playing Nicole in a position where we would best be able to utilize her special talents. Playing as an attacking midfielder, Nicole is a threat to score at any given moment and possesses the ability to win games for us. She performed at her best in the biggest moments this year, and I am ecstatic to see her earn this award."

The All-America honor follows Wolfe's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) First-Team All-Region selection and Northern Athletics Conference First-Team All-Conference selection with 17 goals, including eight game-winning goals and one assist.

The AU women's soccer program made its ninth NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship appearance in the past 12 seasons. AU captured the Northern Athletics Conference championship with a 12-0 regular-season record and went 2-0 in the NAC tournament to capture the automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

On the season, the Spartans outscored their opponents 86 to 14 (22 games). The AU women finished 2012 with a 19-2-1 overall record and captured their 14th conference title in the 19 seasons of the program's existence. The Spartans were ranked No. 23 in the final D3soccer.com Top 25 poll.
