Churchill Downs' all-time leading rider, Pat Day, will speak at Campbellsville University's chapel

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (10/06/2011)(readMedia)-- Pat Day, four-time winner of the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey, will speak at Campbellsville University's chapel service Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. in Ransdell Chapel, located at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville.

Chapel is free and open to the public.

Day was inducted into the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame in 1991.

After a hip surgery in 2005 that caused him to miss his first Kentucky Derby in 21 years, Day found himself hanging up his racing silks, and devoting his life to his spiritual calling.

Day retired from the racetrack in 2005, and became industry representative as well as an ambassador for the Racetrack Chaplaincy.

Day and his wife, Sheila Ann Johnson Day, now residents of Louisville, Ky., have one daughter, Irene Elizabeth.

Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through a variety of informative speakers and presentations. All chapels are open to the public free of charge and are televised live on WLCU (Comcast Cable channel 10) and on WLCU Radio 88.7 FM and are streamed live on the Internet.
