Clark Resident Fr. Jim Chern Receives Alumni Award from DeSales University

CENTER VALLEY, PA (10/10/2012)(readMedia)-- On September 29, Clark, N.J., resident Fr. Jim Chern was awarded the DeSales University Alumni Service Award during the school's 2012 Homecoming Weekend.

The DeSales Alumni Service Award recognizes extraordinary alumni service to DeSales, as well as a life that reflects the ideals of St. Francis de Sales, patron of the University.

Fr. Chern graduated from DeSales in 1995 with degrees in theology and philosophy and is the chaplain at Montclair State University and the director of the Newman Catholic Center in Montclair, N.J. He's also a regular guest on "The Catholic Guy Show" on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio's The Catholic Channel and he's the director of campus ministry for the Archdiocese of Newark.

DeSales University, in Center Valley, Pa., is a private, coeducational, four-year liberal arts university affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. Founded by the Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales in 1965, the 480-acre suburban campus is located 50 miles north of Philadelphia and about 90 miles south of New York City. A total enrollment of nearly 3,000 includes undergraduate day and evening students and graduate students. DeSales has approximately 100 full-time faculty members and offers more than 35 bachelor's degrees and seven graduate programs in a wide range of disciplines.
