Clay, Kreider Named Academic All-Conference

HARTSVILLE, S.C. (04/11/2013)(readMedia)-- Coker College golfers Josh Clay and Matt Kreider have been named to the Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference team, the league office announced today.

Clay, a junior, is a physical education and sport studies major with a concentration in sports management. He has played in over 20 tournaments for the Cobras in his career and, this season, he is averaging 78 through six events played.

Clay is from Canton, Ohio, and is the son of Dennis and Paula Clay.

Kreider is a junior criminology major from Westlake, Ohio. He currently holds a 77.8 average and has participated in two events this season, one of which was a top-10 finish individually.

Originally from Westlake, Ohio, Matt is the son of Jeff and Patty Kreider.

The Coker men's golf team recently finished fourth at the Mount Olive Invitational. The Cobras' next competition takes place April 21 at the Conference Carolinas tournament.

Conference Carolinas academic all-conference teams are awarded to junior and senior student-athletes with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution that have played in a conference-sponsored sport. The GPA is calculated based on the student-athletes' cumulative GPA through the previous semester and each student-athlete must have attended their member institution for at least one academic year.
