HARTSVILLE, SC (02/28/2012)(readMedia)-- Coker College student Lindsay Davis, of Chesterfield, S.C., was recently selected for an internship with The Washington Center. Davis is a junior elementary education and early childhood education double major at Coker.
Davis is interning with For Love of Children (FLOC), a non-profit tutoring center that offers free tutoring for low-income families in the D.C. area. She works specifically with a section of FLOC called the Neighborhood Tutoring Program (NTP) and helps to develop and modify their curriculum as well as supervise math tutoring sessions.
The Washington Center is an independent, non-profit organization serving hundreds of colleges and universities in the United States and other countries by providing selected students challenging opportunities to work and learn in Washington, D.C., for academic credit. The largest program of its kind, The Washington Center has 70 full-time staff and more than 50,000 alumni, many of whom are in leadership positions in the public, private and non-profit sectors.
