MADISON, NJ (03/15/2011)(readMedia)-- Michael J. Clarke, a partner in the accounting firm Buchanan Clarke Schlader in Dallas, Texas, has been elected to the FDU Board of Trustees for a three-year term.
"We look forward to Michael Clarke's contributions to the Board of Trustees," said FDU President J. Michael Adams. "In addition to being a generous and loyal alumni, Michael is a leader in his field whose skills will be a great asset to the board."
Clarke co-founded Buchanan Clarke Schlader in Dallas, Texas, in 1999 when the southwest regional office of Campos & Stratis LLP joined with Buchanan & Associates. BCS, which provides forensic accounting services to the property and casualty insurance industry and corporate and litigation counsel worldwide, also has offices in New Jersey, Kansas, Georgia, California, Florida and Indiana.
Clarke began his accounting career in 1981 at Campos & Stratis, P.C., in Teaneck, serving as senior staff member for the firm founded by the late Elia Stratis. In 1985, he became a partner for C&S' southwest region in Dallas.
But his relationship with Stratis began when Clarke was an undergraduate accounting major at Fairleigh Dickinson from 1977 to 1981. The recipient of a four-year athletic scholarship, Clarke was a member of the Division I track and field team at FDU's Metropolitan Campus and competed in the 1976 and 1980 Canadian Olympic men's trials in discus and hammer throw. Stratis became a career mentor and admirer of Clarke's athletic achievements.
In 2009, Clarke was honored with the Elia G. Stratis CASTLE Award, the highest award the FDU Alumni Association confers. Since 2002, Clarke has donated numerous times to the Elia G. Stratis Scholarship, one of the largest endowed scholarships at FDU.
Clarke graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson in 1981 with a B.S. degree in accounting. A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and its Dallas chapter, he is a frequent speaker at seminars for insurance, professional and industry associations.
Clarke and his wife, Denise, and two children, Danielle and Christopher, live in Colleyville, Texas.
