Common Cause/NY Calls for DA Bragg to Hold Adams Accountable Under State Law

NEW YORK, NY (02/11/2025) (readMedia)-- Late last night, the Justice Department ordered federal prosecutors to drop the corruption charges against Mayor Eric Adams. In response, Susan Lerner, Executive Director of Common Cause/NY issued the following statement:

"It's clear that Mayor Adams cut a backroom deal with Trump to save himself while throwing the public – and the stacks of evidence against him – under the bus. This corrupt deal spits in the face of the constitutional rule of law and the oath Adams took upon ascending to office. Common Cause/NY seconds Senator Myrie's call to Judge Ho for a special prosecutor to handle the case and strongly encourages the Campaign Finance Board to continue to follow New York City's campaign finance law and not give the Mayor any public tax dollars. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg must complete his investigation into the Mayor and hold him accountable under state law if the evidence supports it. Mayor Adams should have his day in court so New York City residents, and everyone else, can hear the evidence against him."
