Common Cause/NY Campaigns to Put Council Members on Record for Rules Reform
Some bills with majority support of Council Members do not receive a floor vote
NEW YORK, NY (09/06/2016)(readMedia)-- In a long-standing effort to identify and advocate for legislative best practices, Common Cause/NY sent a survey to the 51 members of the New York City Council in a letter regarding rules reform. The survey asks the following questions:
1. Do you believe that bills with majority support of the City Council should receive a floor vote?
2. Do you support Common Cause/NY's proposed procedural solution to the majority bill issue?
3. Do you believe the Right to Know Act deserves to receive a vote this session?
Common Cause/NY has launched a website to list the responses: http://www.LettheCouncilVote.org.
