Common Cause/NY Issues Statement of Support for DNAinfo and Gothamist
NEW YORK, NY (11/06/2017) (readMedia)-- In response to the abrupt and untimely news that Gothamist and DNAinfo have been shut down, Susan Lerner, Executive Director of Commmon Cause/NY issued the following statement of support ahead of a 1pm rally at City Hall.
"DNAinfo and Gothamist have covered civic issues like white on rice, informing voters about elections, candidates, and hyper-local stories that often go overlooked by citywide outlets. We need community news now more than ever to hold our public officials accountable. Democracy dies in darkness, and the New York media landscape will be that much dimmer.
