Common Cause/NY Statement on Conviction of William Boyland
NEW YORK, NY (03/06/2014)(readMedia)-- In response to the conviction of Assemblyman William Bolyand on charges of bribery, Common Cause/NY Executive Director, Susan Lerner, released the following statement:
"The conviction of Assemblyman William Bolyand is the latest victory in the fight against public corruption, but a wack-a mole-strategy is not sustainable. Comprehensive campaign finance reform built around a core system of matching funds is the only long term solution to New York's systemic problem. Albany can end the oozy spillage of graft which has come to define our government by approving the Governor's proposal for Fair Elections now."
