Common Cause/NY Supports Hochul's Proposed Oversight on NYC Mayor

NEW YORK, NY (02/20/2025) (readMedia)-- Today, Governor Kathy Hochul announced new city and state bills that would increase oversight of the NYC Mayor's office. In response, Susan Lerner, Executive Director of Common Cause/NY put out the following statement:

"Common Cause/NY firmly believes that the mayor should resign but in the event that he refuses to do so, the Governor's proposed guardrails as reported, are an appropriate and meaningful response to this extraordinary situation. New Yorkers desperately need democratic leadership that puts the public interest first, not politicians whose governing interest is self-preservation."
