STAUNTON, VA (01/21/2010)(readMedia)-- And the winner of the $10,000 in the Boys and Girls Club Reverse Raffle is ......Tom Sheaffer from Fishersville. Tom was one of many Boys and Girls Club supporters who, despite tough times, dug deep to purchase at $100 raffle ticket in an effort to provide a positive place for area youth. All 249 raffle tickets were sold by the drawing deadline on January 9th. For the Boys and Girls Club of Waynesboro, Staunton and Augusta County that meant $14,900 to go directly to the units for basic essentials like hot meals, a safe place afterschool and homework tutoring. The Club's CPO Tyrell McElroy said ,"The raffle is a fun community event that garners attention for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Waynesboro, Staunton, & Augusta County while also providing financial support to all three units of the club. The money raised will allow us to continue providing exceptional programs for the children in our community."
The winning ticket was sold by Bruce Allen, a member of the Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors. The Board member selling the most tickets was past Chairman Frank Lucente.
