GLOVERSVILLE, NY (10/22/2010)(readMedia)-- Nathan Littauer Hospital will welcome Congressman Tonko to tour their new Emergency Care Center Monday, October 25, 2010. Congressman Tonko was instrumental in securing $350,000 of federal grants to help fund the construction. The new center is 40% larger than their previous Emergency Department with 4 new specialized treatment rooms. The new emergency center cost approximately $2.2 million dollars to build.
"Congressman Tonko's vision made this center a reality. We are grateful for his commitment to our hospital and community and look forward to showing him the final product." stated Laurence E. Kelly, Littauer's President and CEO. He added, "As a gateway to the Adirondack playground, we see people from all around the country in our Emergency Department. This center is not only a modern, clinical center it is also designed to be a peaceful, soothing place. We are proud to show it to Mr. Tonko, an unyielding supporter of Nathan Littauer Hospital."
The new center was unveiled to the community last month. According to Susan Kiernan, Vice President of Development for Littauer, "The state-of–the art center is already receiving rave reviews from the community."
