MILLERSVILLE, PA (06/16/2014)(readMedia)-- Connor Sheehan, Quarryville, Pa., has been selected to receive the Drs. Helen A. '64 and George Stine Freshman Scholarship. Sheehan will graduate from Solanco High School and will attend Millersville University of Pennsylvania this fall to study towards his Bachelor of Science in Education in biology.
The Drs. Helen A. '64 and George Stine Freshman Scholarship is awarded to an admitted freshman with a high school cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 who attended the last two years, and is a graduate of Solanco High School. The scholarship is made possible through the generosity of Dr. George Stine, a retired MU professor of sociology, and his wife Helen, an alumna of the University. It is a non-renewable award of $427.
Sheehan pursued a solid college preparatory curriculum that included several advanced classes. Throughout high school he was on the distinguished honor roll. He was a member of the golf and wrestling teams all four years of high school and was a two time state qualifier in golf and a state runner up in wrestling. He volunteered to assist and coach young golfers at a junior golf camp and participated in the Health Related Club and the Act Out Loud Safe Driving group in grades 10 through 12. In 2013 he was recognized with the Class Business Award.
