Connor Winstead Inducted into Phi Beta Kappa

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (05/18/2012)(readMedia)-- Vincent Connor Winstead, Jr. was inducted into the national honor society Phi Beta Kappa on May 13 during Commencement at Hampden-Sydney College. Membership recognizes the highest academic achievement, moral character, responsible citizenship, and broad intellectual curiosity.

Winstead, an Allan Scholar, served on the Student Senate and was Secretary-Treasurer this year. He was a member of the Student Finance Board, the Society of '91 (leadership program), and the Pre-Law Society.  He is a member of the honor societies Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership), Phi Alpha Theta (history), and Pi Sigma Alpha (political science), and the social fraternity Beta Theta Pi. Winstead, graduating magna cum laude with a B.A. in history and government, is the son of Kathy and Vince Winstead of Nags Head.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the needs of young men.
