HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (04/11/2011)(readMedia)-- Hampden-Sydney College senior Conor Patrick Sanders (left) recently received the prestigious James Madison Public Service Certificate from Dr. Christopher B. Howard, President of Hampden-Sydney College on behalf of the Wilson Center for Leadership in the Public Interest. The Public Service Certificates are presented to seniors who have successfully completed a two-year concentration of classes, internship, and research and who are seriously considering careers in public service.
Conor, a Patrick Henry Scholar, serves as Secretary-Treasurer of Student Government, as Chair of the Student Finance Committee, and as a Head Resident Advisor. He is an Admissions Office tour guide (Garnet & Grey Society) and is a member of the honor societies Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership) and Omicron Delta Epsilon (economics), the Student Investment Group, the Society of '91 (leadership program), the Catholic Campus Ministry, and the social fraternity Phi Gamma Delta. Conor was recognized for leadership in the 2010 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. He interned in the finance office of the gubernatorial campaign of Bob Ehrlich for Maryland and with Prince Edward County's Voter Registration Office. Following graduation he will enter a management training program in North Carolina. Conor, an economics and commerce major, is a graduate of Boys' Latin School of Maryland and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Barry M. Sanders of Baltimore.
