New Cougar Cafe at GCC

BATAVIA, NY (09/03/2015)(readMedia)-- Genesee Community College will mark the completion of summer-long renovations to its cafeteria with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, September 14, 2015 beginning at 4 p.m. The ceremony will highlight the unveiling of upgrades to the spacing, flooring, design and layout of the service area of the main café and showcase the enhanced dining options now available to GCC students, faculty and staff.

In cooperation with American Dining Creations, GCC's food service provider, and the College's Buildings and Grounds staff, the renovations were completed in just over two months after SUNY approved additional state support, eliminating any funding from Genesee County for the project. GCC Director of Buildings and Grounds Tim Landers was instrumental in coordinating the renovation efforts.

The ceremony will include comments from Dr. James M. Sunser, President of GCC and Ms. Diane T. Torcello, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees. Photograph opportunities will also be available and light refreshments will conclude the event.

The cafeteria project marks the beginning of an exciting period in the College's history. GCC will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2016 and begin construction on two new buildings as part of the Facilities Master Plan, next spring. The new Student Success Center and College and Community Event Center will be operational by the end of 2017, barring unforeseen conditions.
