Courtney Swider '27 finds purpose in giving back

Courtney Swider '27 believes every child deserves to be part of a team.

That's why, as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, she gathered the women's basketball and lacrosse teams for SAAC's volunteer night with Carolina Mircale League on Sept. 28.

Swider's passion for working with children began at the University of Richmond with Team IMPACT, a nonprofit organization that matches children facing serious or chronic illnesses and disabilities with college sports teams. When Swider transferred to Wofford, she became the college's Team IMPACT fellow, helping establish the club's presence on campus and spreading the word about their mission. Last fall, she helped the men's soccer team welcome their Team IMPACT player, Evan, and his family. She is currently working to find a player for the women's basketball team.

Swider's leadership also includes service as a Southern Conference representative, giving Wofford student-athletes a voice at the conference level and communicating conference decisions. She's also recruitment chair for Morgan's Message, a club that advocates for student-athlete mental health and suicide prevention.
